

Judge Matthew P. Sabaugh was appointed by the Governor in December of 2008 and elected by the voters in November of 2010. Prior to becoming a judge, he served 8 years as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Macomb County. As an Assistant Prosecutor, Judge Sabaugh prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases in Macomb County District and Circuit Courts and successfully tried numerous felony cases.
A Warren native, Judge Sabaugh attended Warren-Woods Public Schools as well as Macomb Community College. He graduated from Warren Woods-Tower High School in 1989. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in 1993. Judge Sabaugh graduated from the Detroit College of Law in 1999, where he attended night classes while working full-time as legislative assistant for the 28th Michigan House District-representing the cities of Warren and Center Line.
Judge Sabaugh is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Macomb County Bar Association, the Michigan District Judges Association, the Italian-American Bar Association, and the Detroit Zoological Society. He served as a mentor in Governor Granholm's 2000 for 2000 Mentor Initiative. Judge Sabaugh is a member of St. Martin De Porres Church in Warren. He resides in Warren with his wife and their two children.
